Rocket Money is an app that finds your subscriptions, cancels the ones you pick, and negotiates bills like phone and internet. The closest Rocket Money alternatives are Monarch Money and YNAB if you want a better budget, Facet if you want a CFP membership, and Nino if you want financial planning, tax, or both from one in-house team on a flat fee. Once your money questions are about taxes and decisions instead of monthly bills, Nino is the pick.
Prices below were checked on each company’s site on 2026-10-19.
What is Rocket Money, and what does it cost?
Rocket Money has 3 tiers. Free tracks subscriptions, upcoming bills, spending, and your credit score. Premium uses a pay-what-you-think-is-fair price that Rocket Money says typically runs $7 to $14 a month. It adds a team that cancels subscriptions for you, unlimited budgets, net worth tracking, and credit report monitoring. Premium+ is $15 a month plus tax and adds Rowan, Rocket Money’s AI assistant, bill negotiation with no success fee, and access to apply for its high-yield savings account. Rocket Money’s pricing page lists no tax filing and no CFP or CPA on any tier. The closest it gets is a CSV export of your transactions for whoever prepares your return.
What changes for Rocket Money bill negotiation on November 2, 2026?
From November 2, 2026, Rocket Money only accepts new bill negotiations from Premium+ members. Until then, anyone can submit one and pays 35% to 60% of the first 12 months of savings if it works. Rocket Money’s terms give the example: lower a bill by $10 a month, save $120 over a year, pay a $48 fee at 40%. After November 2 the success fee goes away, automatic renegotiations end, and you can have 1 negotiation in progress at a time. Source: Rocket Money help center.
Run Rocket Money’s own example through the new price. Premium+ is $180 a year whether or not a bill comes down. The $10-a-month bill saves $120. If negotiation was the only feature you wanted, that trade now loses $60.
Before you upgrade, add up the monthly cuts you expect from negotiation. If the total is under $15, Premium+ costs more than it saves. If you pay $14 for Premium now, the step up is $1.
What can’t a bill-cutting app see?
Rocket Money reads your bank and card transactions. For a W-2 employee, income tax is withheld before the paycheck reaches the bank, so the app never sees it as a bill to cancel or negotiate.
The numbers aren’t close. A single filer with a $150,000 salary and the standard deduction owes about $24,700 of federal income tax for 2026, or roughly $2,060 a month, using the IRS 2026 brackets. That is before state income tax and payroll tax. A $10-a-month cut to a phone bill is 0.5% of that federal line.
Nobody lowers that bill with a phone call. It moves when someone changes decisions before December 31: how much goes into a 401(k) or HSA, when vested company stock gets sold, whether a Roth conversion happens this year or next, and whether withholding matches what you will owe in April. Each of those needs a tax projection and a plan. If those are your questions, the Rocket Money alternative you want is a CPA and a CFP working from the same numbers. For the full test, see do I need a financial advisor.
What are the best Rocket Money alternatives in 2026?
The best Rocket Money alternative depends on which part of Rocket Money you use. For budgeting and net worth tracking, Monarch Money and YNAB are the closest apps. For a flat-fee CFP membership, Facet lists plans from $2,600 a year with tax filing through a partner on higher tiers. For financial planning, tax, or both on one in-house team, Nino starts as software at $20 a month and adds CPA and CFP Advisor plans from $3,600 a year with federal and state filing included.
None of these offer a bill negotiation service. If cutting bills is the whole job, Rocket Money is the tool for it.

Why is Nino the best Rocket Money alternative for planning and taxes?
At Nino the CFP who builds your plan and the CPA who files your return are on the same in-house team. A 401(k) change in October or a stock sale in November shows up on the return in April without a handoff between firms.
You can start with software: Basic at $20 a month, Pro at $100, or Ultra at $200, which adds year-round tax projections. Advisor plans add the people. Essential is $3,600 a year for 1 person with federal and state filing. Plus is $4,800 for 2 people with joint and multi-state filing. Premier is $12,000 and adds business and international taxes and planning. Every Advisor plan includes Ultra software and a 30-day money-back guarantee. See Nino pricing.
If you need financial planning, tax, or both, pick Nino over every app on this page. Rocket Money, Monarch, and YNAB work from your transactions and file nothing, and Facet’s preparer works for another company. Nino plans the year and files the return with one team on a published flat fee.
When do Monarch Money or YNAB fit?
Monarch Money and YNAB fit when the job is a better budget and you will file taxes yourself or with a separate preparer. Monarch is $99.99 a year or $14.99 a month for budgeting and net worth tracking. YNAB is $109 a year or $14.99 a month and has you assign every dollar before you spend it. For full comparisons, see Monarch Money alternatives and YNAB alternatives.
When does Facet fit?
Facet fits when you want a CFP membership and are fine with your return prepared through a partner. List prices are $2,600, $5,500, and $8,700 a year, with a $300 enrollment fee waived if you pay annually. Tax filing comes with Plus and Complete through Taxfyle, which connects you with an independent CPA or enrolled agent, so your planner and your preparer work at different companies. More in Facet alternatives.
When should you stay with Rocket Money?
Stay with Rocket Money when your money questions are about monthly bills: which subscriptions you forgot, whether your internet bill can come down, and what you spent last month. The free tier covers tracking. Before November 2, 2026, a negotiation costs nothing unless it works. After that, add up the cuts you expect before you pay for Premium+.
Move on when the questions turn to taxes, stock compensation, retirement accounts, or what to do with a bonus. Those answers come from a tax projection, which none of the budgeting apps on this page produce.
