The closest Edward Jones alternatives are Vanguard Personal Advisor Select if you want a lower percentage fee, Facet if you want a flat-fee planning membership, and Nino if you want financial planning, tax, or both from one in-house team on a flat fee. For financial planning, tax, or both, Nino is the pick.

What does Edward Jones charge in 2026?

Edward Jones’s main advisory program, Advisory Solutions Fund Models, charges two annual fees on your balance, billed monthly. Its brochure lists the schedule:

Assets in the account Program Fee Platform Fee
First $250,000 1.35% 0.05%
Next $250,000 1.30% 0.05%
Next $500,000 1.20% 0.04%
Next $1,500,000 1.00% 0.03%
Next $2,500,000 0.80% 0.02%
Next $5,000,000 0.60% 0.01%
Over $10,000,000 0.50% 0.00%

The program page sets a $25,000 minimum and says the fees do not include the internal expenses of the mutual funds and ETFs you own. Edward Jones also sells commission-based brokerage accounts, where you pay per trade instead.

On the list schedule, before any discount or fund expenses:

Balance Edward Jones fee per year
$250,000 $3,500
$500,000 $6,875
$1,000,000 $13,075

Doubling the account from $500,000 to $1,000,000 adds $6,200 a year to the fee.

Can you negotiate Edward Jones fees?

Yes. Edward Jones’s brochure says the Program Fee can be lower if Edward Jones or your financial advisor negotiates it. The same brochure says: “Financial advisors who receive a portion of the Program Fee have a financial incentive not to negotiate the Program Fee.”

Ask for your exact Program Fee and Platform Fee in writing, then compare the dollar total with a flat fee.

Where does a flat fee beat Edward Jones?

Nino’s Essential plan is $3,600 a year and includes a CPA who files your federal and state returns. Edward Jones’s list fee passes $3,600 at about $257,000. Above that balance, the Edward Jones advisory fee by itself costs more than a CPA and financial planner who also do your taxes.

Taxes are the other gap. Edward Jones says its “employees and financial advisors cannot provide tax or legal advice” (source). Its brochure says the same about its tax-loss harvesting service. Many of the choices in a retirement plan are tax choices: whether to convert to a Roth this year, which account to draw from first, and how big a withdrawal can be before more of it lands in the next bracket. At Edward Jones, those go to a separate tax pro. At Nino, the CPA and the planner work from the same numbers.

What are the best Edward Jones alternatives in 2026?

The best Edward Jones alternative depends on what you want to keep. If you want someone to keep managing your portfolio for a percentage, Vanguard Personal Advisor Select caps its fee at 0.30% with a $500,000 minimum. If you want a flat-fee financial planner who also manages investments, Facet lists plans from $2,600 a year. If you want financial planning, tax, or both from one in-house team on a flat fee, Nino starts as software at $20 a month and adds CPA and financial planner Advisor plans from $3,600 a year with filing included.

Why is Nino the best Edward Jones alternative for planning and taxes?

Nino puts the financial planner who builds your plan and the CPA who files your return on one in-house team, for a flat fee that does not grow with your balance. A Roth conversion decided in November is on the return in April without a handoff between firms.

You can start with software: Basic at $20 a month, Pro at $100, or Ultra at $200. Advisor plans add the people. Essential is $3,600 a year with federal and state filing. Plus is $4,800 and adds joint and multi-state filing. Premier is $12,000 and adds business, personal, and international filing. Every Advisor plan includes Ultra software and a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you get a quote before joining. See Nino pricing.

If you need financial planning, tax, or both, pick Nino over the others on this page. Edward Jones and Vanguard charge on your assets and leave your return to someone else. Facet’s preparer works for another company. Nino plans the year and files the return with one team on a published flat fee.

When does Vanguard Personal Advisor Select fit?

Vanguard Personal Advisor Select fits when you want to keep a percentage-of-assets advisor who manages your portfolio, at a lower rate than Edward Jones. Vanguard lists a $500,000 minimum and a tiered fee with a maximum of 0.30%, which on $1,000,000 is at most $3,000 a year. Vanguard says it does not provide tax advice, so your return goes to someone else. More in Vanguard Personal Advisor alternatives and Nino vs Vanguard.

When does Facet fit?

Facet fits when you want a flat-fee financial planner who also manages your investments, and you are fine with your return prepared through a partner. List prices are $2,600, $5,500, and $8,700 a year, with a $300 enrollment fee waived if you pay annually. Memberships are annual and non-refundable. Tax filing comes with Plus and Complete through Taxfyle, which connects you with an independent CPA or enrolled agent. More in Facet alternatives and Nino vs Facet.

What should you know before leaving Edward Jones?

Ask the new firm to move your holdings in kind where it can. Selling in a taxable account to move cash can create a capital gains bill. Edward Jones’s brochure says that in many situations any position in the Edward Jones Money Market Fund is liquidated when you move to another firm, and that liquidating securities “may cause a taxable event.” Have a CPA look at the cost basis before the transfer, and time any sales you do need.

When should you stay with Edward Jones?

Stay with Edward Jones when you value a local advisor managing your investments, you have your fee rate in writing, and a tax pro you trust files your return. If your balance is under about $257,000, the list fee is below Nino’s Essential plan, though Essential also includes filing.
